TESORINA, comedy of procuress
One speaks about the loves of a gentleman and a lady that in spite of the initial difficulties, they reach with the wedding an end happy, typical of the comedy. The love between Tesorino and Lucina as central topic of the work is completed with the presence of the "secondary" affairs in the world of the servants: Giliracho and Citeria, Pinedo and Citeria, Margarita and Giliracho. The presence of The Procuress is obvious, though with the singularity of which its activity is exercised by a friar, confessor of our heroine. It does not stop being significant that in the group of 11 prominent figures, only three, Tesorino, Lucina and his father Timbreo, are a wealthy people, opposite to a block of eight integrated by servants, included a slave, shepherds and a friar and his young boy. This imbalance with wide majority of low class obeys a clear criterion of Popular Theatre.
Following the line of the poetry and of the sentimental novel, the equal protagonist, or rather the gentleman, he appears often as aching and sad lover, for what, at first, we might wait to find under so many complaints for love, weepings, sighs and declarations of faith and service, sores, bloody wound, compliments, threats of death and suicide for ourselves, someone treads, that was not only rhetorical, of the currents neoplatonizantes in vogue in the Europe of the Renaissance. It is not like that, but normally, the love means the pleasure of the senses, since it happens in the classic comedy and in the Italian. And if there is something that joins the most representative prominent figures of the first Renaissance, its carnality, which demonstrates in all of them without distinction of condition or social class.
